I don't think that portrait actually captured the broken mess that was the Prof. In the book she probably was a second away from flinging herself off the stairs. Here she is merely a bummed-out drunk. "Damn I missed my favorite t.v show."

Awww, you just want to hug her! And I love McGonagall for comforting her even though she thinks her subject is rubbish.
